From Agents (Platform Users)

When you create an account on the Backline platform, we collect:

• Communication preferences and settings
• Usage data related to platform activity (e.g., call logs, message history, lead management actions)

From Leads

When Leads interact with Agents through the Backline platform (by calling or texting an Agent's number), we collect:

• Phone number
• Name (if provided)
• Message content and call records
• Any additional information the Lead voluntarily provides during communication

Automatically Collected Information

When you visit our website or use the platform, we may automatically collect:

• IP address and device information
• Browser type and operating system
• Pages visited and time spent on the site

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and improve the Backline platform and Services
• Facilitate communication between Agents and their Leads via phone calls and text messages
• Generate AI-assisted and AI-generated text messages on behalf of Agents
• Send Agents transactional platform notifications (e.g., lead alerts, system updates, welcome messages)
• Respond to customer support requests
• Monitor and analyze usage trends to improve the Services
• Comply with legal obligations

AI-Generated Content

The Backline platform uses artificial intelligence to generate and assist with text messages sent on behalf of Agents to Leads. AI is also used to generate transactional notifications sent to Agents. By using the platform, Agents consent to the use of AI in message composition and delivery.

Text Messaging

Agents receive automated platform messages (e.g., lead notifications, system alerts) as part of normal platform operation. Leads are only contacted via SMS after they initiate contact first by calling or texting an Agent's number. Leads are never sent unsolicited text messages. All messages sent to Leads include opt-out instructions (reply STOP to unsubscribe). Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies based on Agent activity and Lead engagement.

How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. We may share information with:

• Service providers who assist in operating the platform (e.g., Twilio for messaging and calling, Supabase for data hosting, Vercel for web hosting)
• Law enforcement or government agencies when required by law or to protect our legal rights
• Agents, in the case of Lead data, solely for the purpose of facilitating the Agent-Lead relationship

Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Services and fulfill the purposes described in this policy. Agents may request deletion of their account and associated data at any time by contacting us. Lead data is retained in accordance with the Agent's account and platform usage.
