How agents and leads consent to Backline text messaging.
Effective Date: May 29, 2026
This page explains how end users opt in to receive SMS messages from Backline. End users include real estate agents who use the Backline platform ("Agents") and leads or clients who communicate with those Agents ("Leads").
The real Backline agent signup flow is invite-only, so Backline provides public example pages that mirror the consent placement and wording used in the product.
Backline does not use purchased lists, cold SMS blasts, affiliate lead sharing, or promotional SMS marketing.
Backline Platform Messaging
Backline sends conversational and transactional SMS messages related to real estate customer care and platform activity. Agent messages may include lead alerts, appointment reminders, account notifications, and customer-care notifications. Lead messages are sent only after the Lead submits a form with their phone number and SMS consent, or after the Lead texts a Backline-enabled number first.
Backline messages are not promotional marketing blasts and do not contain advertisements or upselling.
Agents opt in when they create or activate a Backline account, provide their mobile phone number, and agree to receive transactional SMS messages related to their use of the Backline platform.
The agent SMS consent checkbox is a separate control, is unchecked by default, and is required for Backline agent accounts because agent notifications are delivered by transactional SMS.
Agent messages may include platform notifications, lead alerts, appointment reminders, customer-care messages, and system updates. Message frequency varies based on account activity and settings.
Leads opt in to lead-facing SMS by filling out and submitting a form with their phone number and SMS consent, or by texting a Backline-enabled number first. When a Lead initiates contact by SMS, Backline may respond in a one-to-one transactional exchange about that specific inquiry and only if the Lead messaged first. Each inbound SMS may receive a relevant response about that same inquiry, but inbound SMS consent is not used for unrelated, promotional, or ongoing recurring messages.
The lead SMS consent checkbox is a separate control, is unchecked by default, and is optional. Leads may submit the inquiry form without SMS consent, and SMS consent is not a condition of purchase.
Backline does not send unsolicited SMS messages. Lead-facing automated messages identify Luna as the Agent's AI assistant through Backline. Leads are not contacted with SMS marketing blasts, advertisements, or upselling messages.
Example consent placement is available on the Agent signup form.
Example consent placement is available on the Lead inquiry form.
End users can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any SMS message. After opting out, the user will receive a confirmation message and no further texts will be sent to that number unless the user opts back in.
End users can receive help by replying HELP to any SMS message or by contacting CristiamFlores@yourbackline.com.
Message frequency varies based on platform activity, lead engagement, and user settings. Message and data rates may apply.
Backline does not sell, rent, or trade personal information or mobile opt-in data to third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. Personal information is used to provide and support Backline services, including communication between Agents and Leads.
